According to a recent report from Marca, Barcelona have admittedly told their winger Ousmane Dembele to either agree to their terms or exit from Camp Nou ahead of the next season. It is understood that the Catalan club can no longer let him stall for a contract renewal amid financial troubles.

Dembele’s Decent Run Of Form For Barcelona In The Last Campaign

Dembele had a decent season with the Catalan giants producing a few influential displays in the final third. The French sensation managed to score twice and provided 13 assists over 32 appearances for Barca last season across all competitions.

The Vernon-born talent fared well at the end of the season averaging 2.2 shots, 2.1 key passes and 2.8 dribbles per game in the La Liga.

He was even tidy when distributing possession in the opponent’s half as he completed 84.4% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).

Should Xavi Keep Him At Camp Nou For A Couple Of More Seasons?

Dembele has the pace to leave opposition defenders biting the dust. He is skilful enough to make some dangerous runs down the wide areas. He also can find his teammates and engineer some clear-cut chances for them in front of the opponent’s goal. The French forward has contributed with his fair share of assists.

However, the France international needs to work on his finishing if he wishes to leave his mark on the game. He is primarily a left-sided wide player but remains versatile enough to fill in as a right-winger if required to do so.

He has been reliable for the Catalan giants after getting out of his slump in form and performing extraordinarily in the second half of the campaign. At 25, the French talent will only get better over the coming seasons, so Xavi can make use of him for a couple of more years.

But the player is unhappy with his wages and deems the current contract inadequate for him. Despite proving his potential and showing his calibre, there won’t be any increase in the money. Should he decide to move away, Xavi would be wise to sell him before his contract expires to recover funds for his upheaval in the Camp Nou before the start of the next campaign.
