Barcelona president Joan Laporta has made it clear that the club’s transfer business may not be over just yet.

Despite ongoing financial difficulties that have prevented the registration of new arrivals, Joan Garcia and Marcus Rashford, as well as the renewed contract of Wojciech Szczesny, Laporta has not ruled out further additions this summer.

In a recent media appearance, Laporta explained the club’s stance on strengthening the squad under Hansi Flick.

“As a club, we have to have more players than usual, and that means we have to invest more, and that means we have to do our best to have a more competitive squad,” he said as quoted by MARCA.

“We have very talented players, but they’re also human beings, and there are limits. They need time to rest and enjoy themselves, and I think that’s something to keep in mind,” he stated.

Rashford praised for his efforts

So far, Barcelona have confirmed two signings for the 2025/26 season, namely goalkeeper Joan Garcia and forward Marcus Rashford.

Laporta spoke highly of Rashford, praising his desire and determination to join the Catalan giants.

“We signed this player because he was deeply committed to coming to Barcelona. He’s fast, strong, committed, and did everything he could to sign for Barça.

“He put pressure on his agent, spoke to the club, and at the same time, spoke to Manchester United,” Laporta revealed.

Open to La Liga matches in the United States

Laporta also touched on the possibility of Barcelona playing an official La Liga match abroad, particularly in the United States.

“We are delighted to travel to the United States every year because we feel loved and respected as a club, and we have a great fan base.

“It would be a great honour to participate in that event: an official LaLiga match that, at the same time, would be an important event in the United States,” he said.

“We are a club that belongs to La Liga, and we are responsible because we want to market it as best as possible. I reiterate, I am open to it, and we are at La Liga’s disposal,” he concluded.
