Barcelona’s efforts to sign top attacking target Nico Williams this summer have been met by hostility from Athletic Club.
The Basque outfit are ready to take the necessary steps in an attempt to block Nico’s move to Catalonia, including asking La Liga to block the transfer on account of the club failing to meet the 1:1 rule.
While Barcelona remain determined to bring in Nico regardless, the club are also exploring other available options in the market. And one of them is Marcus Rashford.
According to Shaun Connolly and Albert Fernandez, Barcelona are preparing to make a formal move for the Manchester United forward.
The Catalans are moving towards offering a basic one-year loan agreement for Rashford, which would include a standard loan fee and ‘significant coverage’ of the player’s salary.

Crucially, the deal would not include an obligation to buy, which is important considering the fact that Barça wouldn’t want to commit to buying the player unless he performs well in La Liga.
Both Hansi Flick and Deco are said to be long-term admirers, viewing Rashford as a versatile attacker who can operate across the frontline and add a different dimension to their attack.
The player is also pushing for the move, having partnered with superagent Pini Zahavi, who has close ties to Joan Laporta, to help broker his dream move.
Earlier reports indicated that Rashford is even willing to lower his salary demands to make the deal happen.
However, with Barcelona still determined to bring in Nico Williams, it will be interesting to see how their ploy to bring in Rashford fits into the larger scheme of things.
