As Barcelona gear up for one of the most important transfer windows in their recent history, they may be getting closer to securing the services of one of their priority targets this summer.

Barcelona ended the 2021/22 campaign without a trophy, while arch-rivals Real Madrid won the La Liga, the UEFA Champions League and the Spanish Supercup. So, the Catalans will be raring to bounce back strongly next season and a good window in the summer will be crucial.

Heading into the transfer market, Barça have made the signing of a world-class striker their top priority and have identified Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski as their primary target.

The 33-year-old is entering the final year of his contract at the Allianz Arena and has stated his desire to leave, with his heart set on a switch to Camp Nou. While Die Roten appeared reluctant to let their star man leave, things could be set to change soon.

Indeed, as reported by SPORT, Barcelona are just ‘one step away’ from landing Lewandowski from Bayern Munich, who themselves are inching closer to signing a replacement for the Poland international.

The German champions are reportedly on the verge of signing Liverpool superstar Sadio Mane in a deal worth €30 million. The Senegalese speedster had revealed that he will issue an update on his future once the Champions League final was over.

With that out of the way, things are expected to speed up with regard to his move to Bavaria. Liverpool, for their part, are open to selling Mane as he is entering the final year of his contract and their primary focus is on extending Mohamed Salah’s deal.

So, with Mane headed to Bayern Munich, it should open the doors for the Bundesliga champions to accept Barcelona’s offer for Lewandowski and sanction a transfer in the near future.

The Catalan giants are believed to have lodged an opening offer of around €32 million, to which the Bavarian giants have not responded yet. Barça, though, have remained calm over the matter and with Bayern close to securing a replacement, things should be set in motion.
