Spain needed a late Martin Zubimendi goal to defeat Denmark on Saturday, a result that extended their unbeaten run across all competitions – their only defeat in the Luis de la Fuente era came against Scotland in March 2023. They will hope to continue it again on Tuesday when Serbia come to town, although they may be without one of their most influential players.
Against Denmark, Lamine Yamal had a rather quiet night by his standards. To make matters worse, he suffered a late blow following a strong challenge, and according to Diario AS, he is now doubtful for the match against Serbia.
Lamine Yamal was seen limping upon leaving the stadium in Murcia on Saturday, and in the coming hours, he will undergo further medical examinations to determine how severe the blow is.
Barcelona will be praying that it is only minor, but also serious enough that he is not risked by Spain on Tuesday. Given their upcoming fixtures, which include matches against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, they cannot afford to be without Lamine Yamal’s services for any time at all.
