According to Sport, Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic desperately wants to depart from Catalonia. He arrived last summer, after the departure of Arthur Melo, Arturo Vidal, and Ivan Rakitic, in hopes of becoming a first-team regular.

Pjanic’s dreams were swiftly shattered, with new head coach Ronald Koeman placing five midfielders in the squad ahead of the Bosnian in his pecking order.

Napoli, Inter Milan, and Juventus are three Italian clubs interested in Pjanic, as per the report. While, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain, too are interested.

The 31-year-old excelled for several years in Serie A, and so naturally, clubs in the Italian league are interested in his service.

Often playing as a deep-lying playmaker, the Bosnian is an expert passer of the ball and a deep-lying playmaker. However, his rather immobile profile makes him a poor fit for Barça’s positional play style.

Without ever having gained the trust of Koeman, the former Juve midfielder is desperate to depart from the Camp Nou. Every indication points to a two-year-long loan spell in Juventus, although Barça will not be willing to pay his wages, so how the structure of such a deal works remains to be seen.

Having arrived as a part of a swap deal for Arthur Mello last summer, Pjanic was confident of enjoying a great season in Barça. He is clear now, however, that he will not endure another season on the bench. Understandably, the experienced playmaker is far too skilled to be wilting away in the dugouts.

A return to Italy, therefore, is most likely on the cards. With Massimiliano Allegri returning to Juventus as head coach, the chances increase of Pjanic returning to his former club. Allegri, who is a huge fan of the Bosnian, is eager to bring him back to the Allianz Stadium in Turin. One can only hope such a deal works out.

Barça are in somewhat of an overcrowded situation in the centre of the park. With Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, and Sergio Busquets being outlined as the main midfielders, backups Ilaix Moriba, Riqui Puig, and potentially Nico Gonzalez are more than sufficient to the needs for the Catalonians, who need to free up wages in the squad to make purchases in other positions.

After missing on Georginio Wijnaldum, Joan Laporta and his sporting directors are calm regarding the situation in the midfield. It is likely, therefore, that they will be more focused in selling players and investing in the defence. In attack, they have already signed Sergio Aguero, and most probably Memphis Depay.

Allegri, who wants to sell Aaron Ramsey and potentially Adrian Rabiot, is keen on bringing Pjanic back to his former club. The Italian coach considers the 31-year-old an absolutely fundamental piece of his team, and so he will certainly be working to facilitate his return in the coming months.
