Barcelona are gearing up for a crucial few days ahead as they look to complete the deal to sign Nico Williams.

Barcelona now only need to go ahead and meet the player’s €62 million release clause. However, Financial Fair Play regulations and uncertainty over registration are once again proving to be a challenge.

UEFA has already put Barcelona on close watch on accounting of their far-from-ideal finances, even though La Liga’s decision to block €100 million inflow will not come under UEFA’s audit purview.

Laporta meets Ceferin to discuss FFP

Keeping that in mind, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has met UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin to discuss the club’s finances, reports Catalunya Radio.

This is a meeting aimed at clearing out Barcelona’s FFP troubles, following the investigation and sanction from European football’s governing body over irregular finances.

As has already been reported, UEFA had slapped the Catalan giants with a €60 million fine, but after talks between both parties, that figure will be brought down to nearly a third.

Now, another meeting has taken place between Laporta and Ceferin, although not much information has come forward about what was discussed. But it is likely that the Barcelona president has offered several promises to his UEFA counterpart.

Regardless of the outcome of the meeting, Barcelona’s first order of business this month will be to secure more exits after Ansu Fati.

The youngster has recently joined AS Monaco on loan, but Barcelona need to sanction the sale of more unwanted stars.

Securing these exits could go a long way in helping Barcelona ensure the registration of their new signings before the start of the season.
