As the season’s international break gets underway, Barcelona are gearing up for an important week ahead, as far as the return to Camp Nou is concerned.

Barça’s next game against Valencia is scheduled to be at Camp Nou, but there is no final confirmation yet as the club are yet to receive the permit required to make the stadium match-ready.

This has led to uncertainty, with Barcelona working around the clock in trying to make sure that they obtain the necessary licenses before time.

In the midst of uncertainty around Camp Nou, Barcelona mayor Jaume Collboni has recently opened up about the topic, affirming that the city council is working to make sure the stadium becomes match-ready for the Valencia game.

However, Collboni says the final decision will depend on the technicians, who will assess the safety procedures, including fire safety.

“The technicians have the final say in granting the necessary permits and licenses,” he said (h/t Mundo Deportivo).

“The municipality’s interest is for the work to progress quickly but with all guarantees, especially regarding safety,” he added.

Recent reports indicate that Barcelona are confident about receiving the permit this week and eventually returning to Camp Nou for the Valencia game.

However, nothing can be concrete until the technical security departments greenlight the safety protocols, says Collboni.

“The final decision will be in the hands of the technical security departments: the Barcelona Fire Department, the Mossos d’Esquadra police, and the Urban Guard,” he said.

Finally, Collboni confirmed that the contact between the city council and the club have been smooth and that they are working together to ensure the return of Camp Nou.

“Communication between the club and the municipality has always been smooth, but there are formal procedures and written requests that must follow the legal channels and deadlines – we are now at this stage,” he concluded.
