It is absolutely necessary for FC Barcelona to consider and go through with certain departures this summer. The Catalan club has ambitious goals, but goals such as those require key planning involving sacrifice as well. Unfortunately, things are much easier said than done when it comes to Barcelona.

At the moment, recent reports have suggested that Barça are more than inclined to follow some major transfer targets. Both Nico Williams and Dani Olmo are now on their radar, but that ultimately means that the need to create some salary space is also greater than ever.

However, a recent decision made by the club has left little room for wonder. Having given Lamine Yamal the number ‘19’, Barcelona have essentially handed their golden boy the very same kit number that Vitor Roque had been wearing for the last season.

Now unregistered, but as SPORT highlights, it is a clear signal of intent. Barcelona do not see there to be any space for the young Brazilian striker in the team next season and would much rather prefer to see him be sold this summer in order to free up space and also recover their investment.

Interest from Porto and other European clubs has persisted since quite some time, but it ultimately amounted to nothing. However, there is still the possibility of selling the 19-year-old South American striker to some club in Saudi Arabia, a region which reportedly has a lot of interest in Roque.

The player’s entourage, however, refuses to acknowledge any sort of departure. As for the player himself, he does not understand this change of mind within Barcelona given that he was rushed to the club last season. Moreover, given the lack of support he received from Xavi Hernandez, it feels almost unjust to him as well.

Ultimately, however, even the youngster wants to play and establish himself. The door to a possible exit is not fully closed just yet, but it is gradually becoming clearer that Barça does not acknowledge him as he would have hoped. With Yamal now given his number, and Roque himself being unregistered, the clock is definitely ticking.
