The latest social media activity on the part of the Spanish ‘X’ account of Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco has turned heads over the course of the last 24 hours.
This comes after the Rouges et blancs made use of the opportunity to poke fun at Barcelona, on the back of the meeting between the two clubs.
The matchup, the last of the respective clubs’ pre-season schedules, came as the latest edition of the annual Joan Gamper Trophy.
When all was said and done, it was the visitors to Catalunya’s capital who emerged comfortable victors, by three goals to nil.
And, as alluded to above, in the time since, the club’s social media accounts have utilised the chance to have some fun at the expense of their defeated hosts.
First, in a post on Monaco’s Spanish ‘X’ account, the principality outfit unveiled a photo of the club’s squad with the Joan Gamper Trophy, accompanied by the caption:
‘To triumph in a fair fight, defending your color’
This, for those not aware, is a line taken directly from the anthem of Barcelona’s arch rivals, Real Madrid.
And Monaco did not stop there, either.
In a further post on ‘X’ a short time later, the Ligue 1 club aimed a lighthearted jibe at Blaugrana starlet Lamine Yamal, in highlighting the goal netted by their own Lamine, Camara, at Montjuïc:
‘Lamine shone at the Gamper… LAMINE CAMARA’
Largely inoffensive on the part of Monaco, but actions which have nevertheless gone down altogether poorly amongst those of a Barcelona persuasion…
