Barcelona are gearing up for a busy summer ahead with the club likely to reinforce several areas, including the attacking unit.

Recent reports have indicated that the Catalans are weighing up a €100 million move for Ademola Lookman and Samu Aghehowa combined.

However, another key focus area for Barcelona’s management is the right-back department, which lacks depth and quality apart from the first-choice options.

Indeed, Hansi Flick believes that there are no viable alternatives for Jules Kounde. While Hector Fort has stepped up when needed, he still lacks the experience and is yet to show the mettle to become a true competitor for Kounde.

Barcelona eyeing move for Aramburu

Keeping that in mind, Barcelona are keeping tabs on Jon Aramburu, whose name has gained strength with the Catalan camp in recent hours, reports Fichajes.

Currently plying his trade for Real Sociedad, Aramburu has established himself as a key component in Imanol Alguacil’s defensive unit, notably racking up 36 appearances in all competitions this season.

While he might not have the same attacking prowess as other top right-backs available in the market, the Venezuelan international can offer more going forward compared to Kounde at right-back.

Not to mention, Aramburu knows La Liga quite well, having featured in over 50 competitive matches for Real Sociedad. He also has 12 caps to his name for the Venezuelan national team.

Barcelona, therefore, believe Aramburu can be an ideal option next summer, owing to his experience and technical ability.

That said, prizing the Venezuelan away from Real Sociedad could be tricky. The player has a contract until 2030, which means that Barcelona may have no other option other than meeting his €60 million release clause.

Barcelona are actively looking to reduce the cost of the operation and are even weighing up the option to include a player in the deal in order to cushion the price.
