A leading member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid could be facing up to an altogether lengthy suspension.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Ángel Correa as the player in question.
Frontman Correa for his part endured an evening to forget over the weekend.
En route to a damaging 2-1 defeat for Atlético Madrid at the hands of Getafe, the Argentine was given his marching orders by way of a straight red card late on.
As much was followed by a verbal tirade towards the referee on Correa’s part, which saw the 30-year-old label Guillermo Cuadra Fernández ‘a son of a bitch, coward, and son of a thousand whores’.
And in the case of this being construed as an insult rather than a slight (two-game ban), Atléti could be forced to make do without their super sub for a prolonged stretch of time.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:
‘If it is understood that it was an insult, and Atlético fears that this is the case, it could mean a sanction of between four and twelve matches, according to article 99 of the Disciplinary Code.’
