Brazil has consistently produced some of the world greatest footballers. Neymar Jr, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Dani Alves, Marcelo are just some of the elite players to have come from the South American country.

Unsurprisingly, European clubs today extensively scout players in Brazil, hoping to find the next big thing. Some clubs like Real Madrid have taken it to the next level, signing multiple promising Brazilian talents they come across.

Fichajes reveal a player from the Land of the Palms that has caught Barcelona’s eye. Andrey Santos from Vasco da Gama has made his name as one of the finest midfielders in the country’s youth ranks and is on the Catalans’ radar.

Deco, who is responsible for scouting the South American market for Barcelona, has initiated contacts with Vasco da Gama. Andrey has a contract until August 2023 with a release clause of €30 million. However, the club are willing to let the player go if they can get a fee of around €7 million.

The teenager plays as a defensive midfielder for his club and attracts attention from the Catalans as a possible replacement for Sergio Busquets. It remains to be seen if Barça sign him for the B team or directly into Xavi’s camp.

The Blaugranas are willing to shell out €10 million for the 17-year-old in the summer when the funds are available. The operation remains complicated, though, for Manchester City and Juventus have also shown interest in the teenager.

The recent history between Barcelona and Brazilian players has not been great, given the stories of Philippe Coutinho, Malcolm, and Emerson Royal.
