Barcelona in potential Atlético Madrid transfer U-turn | OneFootball

A head-turning development in the ongoing transfer negotiations between Barcelona and Atlético Madrid, over Clément Lenglet, has on Thursday been touted in the media.

The subject of the ongoing talks between Barca and Atléti has of course positioned itself front and centre in the media headlines in Spain across the week to date.

This came amid the understanding that the parties were closing on an agreement, to send defender Lenglet to the latter.

The Frenchman finds himself out of the project at the Camp Nou, with his hefty wages making his exit before the summer is out something of a priority.

If the latest word on the situation to have surfaced on Thursday is anything to go by, however, then Barca, nevertheless, appear hesitant to allow Lenglet to link up with Diego Simeone’s side.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who report that:

‘The Barça club is reluctant to let him go to the Colchonero club under certain conditions, since they are a direct rival in La Liga.’

It now remains to be seen if the brass at the Wanda Metropolitano can conjure up the kind of formula to convince their counterparts in Catalunya of the merits of a deal…
