Barcelona and Nike are currently embroiled in a dirty legal battle that could stretch many months after the club announced its desire to terminate the contract earlier this year.

It was reported that Barça are not happy with Nike’s economic offer and believe the club are underpaid. They had tried negotiating a better deal, but Nike did not budge.

Nike-Barcelona partnership may continue for ten years

However, according to MARCA, there has been a fresh new twist to the Nike saga, with Barcelona now in talks with the American apparel giants over a new deal.

The report suggests that Nike could continue to be Barcelona’s main kit sponsor for the next ten years, providing everything goes according to the plan.

The terms of the new deal could see Barcelona earn a significantly higher fee compared to the current deal. Both parties are currently at an advanced stage of negotiations and could close the deal in the near future.

This comes shortly after an UEFA report that revealed that Barcelona had led sales in shirts and merchandise, more than any other European giants.

How much will Barça earn?

As far as the exact terms of the deal are concerned, Barcelona could earn about the same that was offered by Puma earlier – a figure of up to €120 million per season.

This is a sharp increase from the €85 million that Barcelona currently receive every season. €120 million per season for ten years amounts to a contract that could be worth €1.2 billion.

Aside from the guaranteed €120 million every season, Barcelona would also bag a €100 million signing bonus, which could go a long way in aiding the club’s finances.

This new deal is a result of long negotiations done by Joan Laporta and his managers. Although there was much tension involved in the process, it appears both Barça and Nike are on the verge of moving past their differences and kickstart a new relationship.
