Jordi Alba’s contract is set to expire in 2020, and Barcelona want to keep hold of their 29-year-old left-back.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will try to get a new deal done by the end of the season.

After the Blaugrana successfully renewed the contracts of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Sergi Roberto, the Catalans made sure to prioritise Samuel Umtiti’s contract extension.

Once that was done, the club looked ahead to the summer window and will now set their sights on renewing Alba’s contract.

Alba reportedly desires a stay with the Catalan giants, however, his agents are not happy with how long it has taken for a deal to get done.

Alba has racked up 250 appearances for Barcelona since he returned to Camp Nou from Valencia, and played nearly every minute last season.
