With volcanic ash in the air and a total of nine positive coronavirus cases in the Flamengo camp, few would have been surprised if tonight’s Copa Libertadores clash between Barcelona (ECU) and Flamengo had been called off.

Seven players (Mauricio Isla, Matheuzinho, Filipe Luís, Diego, Michael, Vitinho, and Bruno Henrique), in addition to doctor Márcio Tannure and former defender Juan, have all been placed into mandatory isolation due to testing positive.

However, the Mayor of Guayaquil, Cynthia Viteri, took to Twitter to deny the information that the stadium had been shut down.

“The stadium is not closed. We are waiting for the Minister of Health to pronounce it ready to play. That will determine whether or not today’s game will continue.”

Barcelona (ECU) also reiterated their compliance with the Conmebol biosafety protocols. Here is how Flamengo will line up tonight.

And their opponents:

Flamengo come into the match second in Group A on six points while Barcelona (ECU) have yet to earn a result in their first three games.
