Heading into the summer transfer window, Barcelona have their sights set on Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood, currently on loan at Getafe.

Indeed, as has been reported before, the Blaugrana have been impressed by the 22-year-old’s displays this season in La Liga and have made some approaches to explore the avenue of his signing in the summer.

However, Barça are set to face some competition if they are serious about signing Greenwood, with another European heavyweight taking an interest in the United loanee.

Juventus enter race

Indeed, according to reports in Italy, as relayed by SPORT, Juventus have joined Barcelona in the race to sign Greenwood from Manchester United in the summer.

As per the report, the Bianconeri management has been impressed by the English forward’s technical quality and attacking ability and wants to add him to their roster.

The idea is to provide manager Massimiliano Allegri with options to move away from the 3-5-2 formation and transition potentially to a 4-3-3, with Greenwood seen as a good fit for such a system.

Furthermore, the fact that the 22-year-old’s contract at Manchester United expires in 2025 is also seen as a major appeal as he could be available at a bargain price.

Deco has already met Man United officials

It must be remembered that around the time when Barcelona’s interest in Greenwood surfaced, the club sporting director, Deco, held a meeting with his Manchester United counterpart, John Murtough.

While it was not confirmed that the meeting was regarding Greenwood, Barça are understood to hold an interest in the youngster, who is unlikely to have a way back in England following the controversy he was involved in.

Whether Barcelona actually go ahead and act on their interest, and if so, whether they can beat Juventus will be interesting to see.
