Earlier today, reports emerged claiming that Real Betis and Argentina midfielder Guido Rodriguez is close to signing for Barcelona on a free transfer.

It is being claimed that the World Cup-winning midfield enforcer will leave Real Betis and sign for the Blaugrana with a two-year deal on the table, along with an optional year.

Rodriguez coy on future

Following the rumours of him signing for Barcelona, Rodriguez has come out and provided an update on the future, stating that he is still not certain about where he will be playing next season.

The 30-year-old professed his love for Real Betis and admitted that he is very happy at the club, but refused to rule out a summer exit at this point.

“I feel at home at Betis. I feel very comfortable here, I’m very happy, I’ve been here for four and a half years and the truth is that I’m happy, very happy and enjoying these last remaining games of the season,” he said.

“You have to make decisions in life and well, we’ll see what happens at the end of the season. The truth is that as of today, neither I nor the club have any certainty about what might happen,” Rodriguez added.

Further elaborating on the topic, the South American star stated: “There is not a single option on which my decision depends. It depends on many things. I’ve already said it, it’s a recurring theme and I don’t want to create any false expectations or say anything for people.

“What I am saying is that I am very fond of this club, the people, even the president, that we are in contact when he is at the club and we get on well. In the end, the decision depends on many things.”

It must be noted that apart from Barcelona, other teams like Atletico Madrid, Juventus, and Napoli are also interested in Rodriguez.
