Earlier in the summer, Xavi Simons was linked with a move to almost every major European club, following a brilliant season in the Bundesliga.

However, the young talent opted to remain at RB Leipzig, extending the loan spell that will expire at the end of the season.

Simons’ decision to remain at Leipzig appears to have paid off as well, even though the playmaker has had a relatively slow start to the season.

But with his loan deal expiring in 2025, European giants are once again tracking his situation and are trying to lure him away from his parent club Paris Saint-Germain.

Barcelona among potential destinations

As reported by The Athletic, Simons could be on the move in the summer of 2025 and there are no shortage of suitors.

In fact, Barcelona are seen as a probable destination for the Dutch international, who has been involved in five goals in 11 competitive matches this season.

Although this pales in comparison to his 21-goal involvements in the Bundesliga last term, Simons’ progress has been marred by an injury this season.

Barcelona, for their part, recognise Simons’ potential and Camp Nou could well be one of the Dutchman’s potential destinations next season.

Barcelona to face stiff competition

However, Barcelona may have a difficult time trying to get their hands on Simons next season, as the club are set to face intense competition from major clubs across Europe.

Apart from the Catalans, the likes of Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Liverpool and even Real Madrid have emerged as potential destinations for the Leipzig starlet.

Bayern were earlier linked with a move for Simons in the summer and the Bavarians were even willing to shell out €90 million for the player.

Moreover, Barça do not have the best of relationships with PSG, which could further hamper negotiations for Simons, as he looks to take the next step in his career next summer.
