FC Barcelona had another difficult test facing them last night as they visited Mallorca for their La Liga game following the defeat to Las Palmas. Fortunately, the Blaugranes were able to get a win this time, as they came out victorious with a 5-1 scoreline.
The Catalans were able to get this win even without one of their key forwards, Robert Lewandowski, for this game, as Hansi Flick decided to give him some rest, and played Ferran Torres in his place.
This gamble paid off as Torres scored the opening goal of the game, but this situation also allowed another player to get some minutes on the pitch, Pau Victor.
The youngster came into the game in the 73rd minute and took full advantage of this opportunity by scoring the last goal of the game in the 84th minute.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the former Girona striker also talked to the media after the match, and expressed his readiness to take full advantage of any opportunity that comes his way:
“I’m feeling very confident and physically good. Whatever minutes the coach gives me, I will always try to make the most of them, whether it’s one or 90.”
The €5m-rated Spaniard was not too concerned about his lack of minutes this season as he knew whom he is competing with:
“When you have the best striker in the world as competition, it’s difficult to get minutes, but I try to learn a lot from him every day and make the most of the opportunities I get.”
The Barcelona striker was also full of praise for his coach, Hansi Flick, as he talked about the unity that this dressing room enjoys:
“It’s a great quality he has. I think he’s a very good coach, and he has all of us at 100%. Sometimes, it’s not easy because those who don’t play can get upset or have trouble staying engaged. However, this is a very united dressing room where everyone is on the same page and wants to contribute, no matter what.”
Pau Victor showed last night that he can take advantage of opportunities like this, and hopefully, Flick will have taken note of his performance and will give him more chances to shine in the coming weeks and months.
