Journalist Moises Llorens has told Barça Universal that Barcelona are currently in no capacity to sign any new players this summer.

Sharing further details, he highlighted the financial difficulties the club is facing, saying that due to this very reason, Barcelona’s pursuit of Nico Williams seems impossible due to their lack of funds.

Furthermore, for this very reason, Barcelona are also been forced to stay away from the midfielder’s market. While it is known that signing a pivot is of utmost importance, Barcelona are simply in no capacity to sign one.

Amidst these dark times, there is light at the end of the tunnel after all, as Llorens mentions if Barcelona can successfully finalize a deal with Libero worth €40 million, the club might gain the financial flexibility needed to consider signing new players.

“In case Barça do have options to sign players, Nico Williams would be great for them or any other team that plays with wingers,” said Llorens.

“He’s a special footballer, playing a great Euros. If Barça can sign him, he would resolve their problems at the left wing position,” he added.

The roster is far from set

The financial strain is not just limited to signing new players. Barcelona is also struggling with player registrations. A notable example of this issue is Vitor Roque as his temporary registration, which was initially granted in place of Gavi, has expired.

Now, Barcelona must register him as a new signing, a process that involves amortizing his transfer fee. This fee is substantial, amounting to €30 million plus an additional €31 million in add-ons.

Given these financial and administrative challenges, Barcelona will only consider entering the transfer market once they are confident they can accommodate new players. Until then, their focus remains on resolving these internal issues.

What about Nico Williams

Turning to Nico, it’s well-known that he is a top priority for Barcelona. However, Athletic Club, his current team, poses a significant challenge.

Athletic Club have made it clear that they are not interested in negotiating for Nico. The only way they would let him go is if a team pays his release clause, which stands at €58 million.

Right now, Barcelona are determined to convince Nico to join them. They are even leveraging the influence of Lamine Yamal, who has a connection with Nico, in hopes of persuading him.

Despite their efforts, both Athletic Club and Nico himself seem hesitant to part ways. Athletic Club are firm on their stance, and Nico appears reluctant to leave his current team.
