Hull City attacker Jaden Philogene has emerged as an unlikely target for FC Barcelona this summer.

It appears the Catalans are keeping close tabs on the progression of the Englishman, who plies his trade in the second division of English football.

Philogene prefers Premier League move

However, a recent report from Fabrizio Romano has offered a rather grim update on Barcelona’s pursuit of Jaden Philogene.

Romano suggests Barcelona’s pursuit of Philogene is complicated as the attacker prefers a move to the Premier League.

A move to Barcelona, in fact, is unlikely for Philogene as the player might want to continue in England rather than find a new challenge elsewhere.

To that end, several Premier League clubs have already started probing him this summer, including the likes of West Ham and Everton.

Romano also mentions Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town as potential suitors for the young Englishman as he looks to take the next step in his career.

As per Romano, Philogene is soon expected to come up with a final decision on his future and there is a high possibility his next destination won’t be Barcelona.

A big miss for Barça?

Although Philogene has shown immense talent during his time in the Championship, missing out on his services might not necessarily be a blow for Barcelona.

The Catalans have no shortage of options in the transfer market. In fact, they have recently been linked with a move for Uruguayan attacking phenom Maxi Araujo.

The explosive winger has been identified as a potential alternative for the club’s top target, Nico Williams. One would expect he would be an ideal alternative for Philogene as well.
