According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have decided to go all in for Luis Diaz and have now completely ruled out a move for Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.

The outlet mentions that Barcelona’s transfer roadmap remains unchanged. Strengthening the attack is the top priority, and Diaz is seen as the ideal player to bring more dynamism and threat to the left wing.

Despite Liverpool showing no intention to sell him at the moment, Barça see that as part of the process. With nearly three months left in the transfer window, the club is confident that the scenario could change.

Liverpool need funds

Barcelona are aware that Liverpool may need to sell in order to fund other high-profile moves, including Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, who is valued at around €130 to €150 million.

Furthermore, the Reds have already spent €40 million to secure Jeremie Frimpong.

Diaz, whose contract with Liverpool runs until 2027, has already admitted to being in talks with multiple clubs.

While he has not closed the door on renewing with the Premier League side, he also has not ruled out a move away. Barcelona are banking on this uncertainty and are preparing to step up their efforts as the market progresses.

Nico Williams no longer an option

While Diaz continues to rise in importance at Camp Nou, Nico has seen his chances of joining Barça all but vanish.

Despite performing well for Spain in the Nations League, his €58 million release clause no longer seems attractive to the Blaugrana.

Last summer, the winger showed hesitation about waiting for Barcelona, and that doubt still has not been forgotten.

Barça now believe that Diaz offers more certainty and quality for the role they are looking to strengthen. He fits the profile that Hansi Flick and the board are aiming for, which means, for now, all roads lead to Luis Diaz.
