A bunch of loanees will be returning to Barcelona at the end of the season. While some are unlikely to find a future at the club, several of Barcelona’s loan players this season have impressed and increased in value.

Among those on the ascendance is Eric Garcia, who has enjoyed a bright spell at Girona, having morphed into a mainstay in Michel’s starting XI.

Entering the summer transfer window, it is yet to be decided whether Barcelona will count on Garcia in the long term, but his continuity is certainly not a far cry.

What would assure Garcia’s continuity?

According to SPORT, if there are major departures in defense, Eric Garcia could have a legitimate chance to stay at Barcelona next season.

Considering Barcelona are knee-deep in a financial crisis, cuts in the backline have been strongly contemplated, especially considering it is the club’s most competitive department.

The possible sales of Jules Kounde and Andreas Christensen have been rumoured, while Ronald Araujo has his fair share of suitors, too.

As such, if some big names end up hitting the exit door, this will increase the likelihood of Eric Garcia being retained by the Catalan giants.

After all, Xavi was not a fan of Garcia leaving on loan in the first place and is once again looking forward to having the 23-year-old back in his ranks.

Garcia will discuss future with Barcelona this summer

In a recent interview, the player opened up about what he intends to do at the end of the season, claiming he will return to Barcelona and then discuss things with the club.

In addition, he confessed that he is still a Cule at heart and that the loss to PSG in the Champions League was a tough blow.
