Despite their financial constraints, FC Barcelona are looking likely to significantly strengthen their team ahead of the 2025-26 season. In this regard, the Blaugranes have already completed their highest priority operation by completing the signing of the Spanish goalkeeper Joan Garcia.

His was a relatively affordable release clause, as it stood at €25 million. Getting a goalkeeper who had such a good last season for such an affordable price was definitely a market opportunity for the Blaugranes, and that is why they were so keen to complete this operation as soon as possible.

However, there is a possibility that Barcelona can recover up to €5 million of this release clause paid to Espanyol in the coming days. This seems to be the case based on a report from Mundo Deportivo, which claims that the Parakeets are interested in signing the former Blaugrana defender Mika Marmol.

Although he is currently playing for Las Palmas, who were relegated from La Liga last season, the Azulgrana side also has 50% rights on any transfer fee paid for him.

Las Palmas will not let Mika Marmol leave without his release clause

His release clause stands at €10 million, and the Canary Islanders are clear that any club that wants to get the defender will have to pay his entire release clause.

There are other teams like Como and Roma also interested in the defender, but if Espanyol end up signing the defender, it would be a symbolic move as Barcelona will be able to get up to 20% of Joan Garcia’s release clause back from their local rivals.

But whichever club gets to sign the defender, the Blaugranes are set to get some much-needed cash in their coffers.
