Barcelona could benefit from the sales of 3 central defenders this summer | OneFootball

Speculation in the media over the last 24 hours points towards La Liga giants Barcelona being in line for a potentially significant cash injection this summer.

As much comes with three players with links to the club inching towards respective permanent moves elsewhere.

The players in question? Central defensive trio Clément Lenglet, Chadi Riad, and Mika Mármol.

Beginning first with Lenglet, the Frenchman is currently enjoying something of a new lease of life, in the Premier League with Aston Villa.

Youngster Riad, meanwhile, has lit up the La Liga season to date, establishing himself as a pivotal figure in the backline of Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis.

And lastly, the highly-regarded Mármol continues to shine bright for Las Palmas.

In the case of the former pair, both are currently out on loan from Barcelona. Their respective deals with Villa and Betis, though, feature options to buy, which media reports point towards being increasingly likely to be activated upon the season’s close.

Mármol, meanwhile, was sold by Barca back in the summer of 2022. As part of the agreement, the Catalans secured for themselves a 50% clause in case of any future sale.

And, amid interest on the part of a whole host of La Liga clubs, chiefly Champions League-chasing Girona, Mármol’s former employers could well be in line for a handsome pay day.

Amid the long-standing financial problems at the Camp Nou, it is safe to say that such developments would mark a timely boost when it comes to Barcelona’s prospects in the summer transfer window.
