Barcelona edged out a win over Getafe to consolidate their place at the top of La Liga

Barcelona extended their lead at the top of La Liga with a 1-0 win over Getafe at Camp Nou.

The home side thought they’d got off to a flying start when Borja Mayoral put the ball in the back of the net, but the goal was ruled out for an offside in the buildup.

Ousmane Dembélé had his effort punched away by Getafe goalkeeper David Soria and Ansu Fati went close but was just unable to get the ball under proper control.

After the half hour mark, Andreas Christensen was quick to intercept a Getafe pass, then delivered it to Raphinha who pulled it back to Pedri for the youngster to finish.

Yet Getafe were determined and only a super save from Marc-André ter Stegen kept them from equalising.

Franck Kessié was denied by Soria with five minutes to play, but in the end the one goal lead was enough to take the win.
