Getafe President Ángel Torres admits Manchester United are open to selling Mason Greenwood and is confident the English winger will remain at the club beyond the summer.

Getafe President Ángel Torres hopes Greenwood will remain at the club in 2024-25 even if his loan spell from Manchester United expires at the end of the season.

Greenwood has been linked with a move to Juventus as well and according to Gazzetta, the 22-year-old is one of the Bianconeri’s priorities for next season.

“If it was up to the lad and his relatives, he’d continue [at Getafe],” Torres told Radio Marca.

“Apparently, Manchester United want to sell him, but I think he’ll stay [at Getafe].”

Football Italia transfer expert Matteo Moretto confirmed earlier this week that Manchester United were open to selling Greenwood at the end of the current campaign. Atletico Madrid have also been linked with the 22-year-old, but Torres revealed he has held talks with Barcelona directors instead.

“Atletico Madrid didn’t ask for him. The only ones were [Barcelona’s] Deco and Laporta when they came here,” he said.

“I spoke to Deco, and they [Barcelona] asked about him because they like the player.

“All clubs, including Barcelona and Atletico, and also Getafe, must sell players before signing new ones. This is going to be a long summer. The situation in Spanish football is that 80% of clubs must sell before buying.”

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported on X, formerly Twitter, that despite Torres’ claims, Barcelona are not interested in Greenwood and have already ruled out a possible deal.
