Barcelona president Joan Laporta has provided an insight into the future of youngster Ansu Fati with the club.

The name of wide-man Ansu has of course returned to the forefront of the headlines in Catalunya’s capital in a major way across the week to date.

As much comes after a number of reports were forthcoming, pointing towards the Spanish international preparing for a fresh departure from Barcelona.

Ansu, of course, has spent the season to date on loan in England, with Premier League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion.

With fitness problems having again hampered his efforts to return to top form, however, it is understood that those behind the scenes at the Camp Nou are yet to be convinced of Ansu’s readiness to contribute for next season.

As a result, a 2nd successive loan move away from Barca could well be on the cards.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of the club’s immediate plans for Ansu was put to Blaugrana president Joan Laporta.

And though the Spanish patron was keen to keep his cards close to his chest, he did little to suggest that the young attacker is part of Barcelona’s plans for the 2024/25 campaign:

“Ansu is being followed by Bojan,” Laporta began, during an interview with Mundo Deportivo. “You already know that Bojan, apart from dealing with the players who come from the quarry and who are in the first team dynamic but who are not yet making their debut but who do come up to train, also takes care of the players we have on loan. To go see them, to talk to them, to see how they are. Araujo in Las Palmas, Ansu Fati, Lenglet… There are a series of players that he is following. Ansu had the injury, he has recovered, he has gone through a series of vicissitudes and we will see at the end of the season what is done. In principle he has to return by contract, but we’ll see, we’ll see.”
