Barcelona centre-back Mikayil Faye (20) is set to undergo a medical with Stade Rennais after both clubs had found a €10m agreement for the transfer of the Senegal international, according to a report from L’Equipe. The La Liga giants have reportedly included a buy-back clause in Faye’s contract with the Ligue 1 club. The outlet understands that Rennes’ Ligue 1 rivals Lille OSC and Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven were also interested in Faye. The 20-year-old centre-back is set to put pen to paper over a four-year deal with Julien Stéphan’s side.
The Senegal international joined Barcelona’s youth teams last year and was under contract with the Catalunya giants with a deal set to expire in 2027. Faye was yet to make his competitive debut with the Blaugranes‘ senior squad. Rennes were in the market for a left-handed centre-back in the wake of Arthur Theate’s loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt. Get French Football News understands that Faye is expected to land in Rennes this Saturday afternoon.
