The elimination of FC Barcelona from the UEFA Champions League after their defeat against Paris Saint Germain has led to a lot of tension at the Catalan club.

As already reported here, the former Manchester City player, Ilkay Gundogan, openly criticized his teammates for their performance in this match and had some scathing words in particular for Ronald Araujo whose expulsion arguably cost Catalans the match.

The German was very clear with his comments that Araujo made a mistake that led to the red card, and this mistake took the chances away from Barcelona to advance to the next round of the competition.

Later, Kounde responded to his comments with his social media post where he highlighted that football was a team sport and everyone should share the blame.

Now, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, Ronald Araujo has broken his silence about the words from Gundogan, as he spoke to the media at a public event. The Uruguayan defender responded to the German in the following words:

“I’d rather keep what I think to myself. There are values and locker room codes that I believe should be upheld.”

These back-and-forth comments blaming one another for the loss against PSG are not going to do anyone good in particular, and Barcelona as a team is going to suffer the most from these squabbles.

Hopefully, all the players can iron out their differences internally in the locker room, instead of continuing the blame game in public.

It is also imperative that these differences are settled as soon as possible, especially as Barcelona have another crucial match awaiting them in La Liga this week, against none other than their most fierce rivals Real Madrid.

A defeat in this match can finish off Barcelona’s chances in the league as well, and thus they need to go into this match with as much harmony and unity as possible.
