Barcelona appear to be on the verge of securing the capture of Joan Garcia, who will become the club’s first major signing for the new season.
But as Barcelona look to make more signings in the market, it will be imperative for the club to make some big-money sales in order to generate fresh revenue.
That is where Ronald Araujo comes into the fray, with the Uruguayan international being one of many Barcelona stars who are facing an uncertain future at the club.
According to Diario SPORT, Araujo could become one of the most sought-after defenders in the market once the transfer window opens.
Despite Deco making it clear that the centre-back is part of the club’s plans and that he has a contract until 2031, the situation remains open.

The key detail lies in a clause in Araujo’s deal that becomes active between July 1 and July 10. During this brief window, his €1 billion release clause temporarily drops to €65 million – a price tag that could tempt several European giants.
Although Araujo has publicly reaffirmed his commitment to the club, Barça’s depth at centre-back puts his guaranteed starting role into question under Hansi Flick.
Juventus and Bayern Munich were both linked with Araujo in the past. The German side eventually signed Jonathan Tah, but the interest in the Uruguayan remains strong.
With only two weeks until his release clause drops, Barcelona could soon be fielding serious offers. Whether they resist the temptation of a quick financial boost remains to be seen.
We must remember the summer transfer market is yet to formally open, and given Araujo’s talents, many European clubs may jump at the opportunity to sign the defender for just €65 million.
