Barcelona are optimistic that they will be able to officially register five players before their Joan Gamper Trophy clash next Sunday, as per an update from Mundo Deportivo.

The players in question are Joan Garcia, Wojciech Szczesny, Marcus Rashford, Roony Bardghji, and Gerard Martin. The latter is set to receive a permanent first-team number, which is why he must be registered under his new contract.

The squad is set to return to Barcelona on Tuesday following their pre-season tour in Asia, with the Joan Gamper fixture quickly approaching.

The club’s aim is to complete the registrations before the La Liga campaign kicks off. While the task is delicate, club officials are confident it can be achieved without selling key players.

Barcelona counting on internal revenue

As per the outlet, the solution lies in Barcelona’s financial strategy.

Instead of resorting to high-profile sales, the club is counting on internal income, particularly the audit report for the 2024/25 financial year and the expected validation of €100 million in revenue from VIP seat packages.

This approach would allow the Catalans to meet La Liga’s financial fair play regulations without parting ways with core squad members.

Meanwhile, President Joan Laporta, speaking during a media interaction before a gala dinner, reassured fans that the process is on track.

“It’s progressing adequately,” he stated, underlining that the club remains hopeful of resolving everything through management rather than the transfer market.

What about Ter Stegen’s injury?

There had been speculation that the club could use Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s injury to generate temporary fair play room. However, this option is considered a last resort.

While it would open space for registrations, it would also require the same amount to be subtracted later, making it a short-term fix that the club prefers to avoid.

Although it is unlikely all five players will be officially registered before the final game of the Asian tour against Daegu, the target remains to finalise everything ahead of the Joan Gamper match.
