Barcelona beat Almeria 2-0 at Camp Nou as Gerard Pique enjoyed three points in his final game for the club.
Scorers: Dembele 47′, De Jong 62′
Pique started the game at the centre of defence alongside Marcos Alonso but it was Robert Lewandowski who was at the centre of things early on.
Barça were awarded a penalty after only seven minutes thanks to a handball but the Poland international hit his effort wide of the left-hand post.
Ferran Torres and Ousmane Dembele both had golden opportunities to open the scoring but the ball just wouldn’t go in through a mixture of poor finishing and wonderful goalkeeping.
After the break the hosts eventually did get the goal they were looking for as Dembele cut in from the right-hand side, beat two defenders and finished brilliantly into the far corner.
Things got even better for Xavi’s men just after the hour mark as Frenkie de Jong was all alone inside the area and smashed home a rebound after Ansu Fati went close.
With the result virtually safe, Pique was given a standing ovation from the capacity crowd as he walked off with five minutes to go.
