In a recent report, Sport stated that Barcelona are keen on landing OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram this summer. It has been claimed that the Catalan club could use Mikayil Faye as a makeweight in a deal to sign the French midfield ace in the upcoming transfer window.

Thuram’s Impressive Form In French Football

Thuram is having a solid campaign at the French club after putting in a run of influential displays for them at the centre of the park. The French sensation has scored one goal in 22 matches for Nice this season in various competitions.

The 23-year-old has been a reliable performer at both ends of the pitch as he is averaging 1.5 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, 1.3 clearances, 1.5 shots, 1.2 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per game in the Ligue 1. He has even distributed the ball relatively well based on his pass success rate of 87.9% in the French first division (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the French club will run out in the summer of 2025 which could open the door for the Catalan club to sign him on a cut-price deal at the end of this season.

Should Barcelona Snap Thuram Up This Summer?

Thuram is a tough-tackling defender who can scan the danger well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t hesitate to put his foot through the ball when needed and can strike the ball with venom from long range.

The French talent can create a few decent chances for others around him and is an energetic runner with the ball. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also function as a defensive midfielder or as a left-sided wide player if required.

We can expect Thuram to bring quality to Barcelona‘s midfield department. He has what it takes to ensure a regular starting spot at the Nou Camp next season. At 23, Thuram has got his best years ahead of him which makes him a good option for Barca to pursue in the summer transfer period.
