In a recent report, Fichajes revealed that Barcelona are hoping to land Real Betis playmaker Isco next summer. It has been revealed that the Catalan club are eyeing a move to bring the former Real Madrid star to the Nou Camp at the end of this season.

Isco’s Impressive Numbers In La Liga This Season

Isco is having a decent campaign at the Spanish club as he has put in some productive displays on the attacking end of the field. The 31-year-old has found the back of the net on three occasions and earned three assists in 17 matches for Real Betis this season in multiple competitions.

The veteran playmaker has been a consistent performer in the opponent’s half based on his average of 2.4 shots, 3.2 key passes and 2.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been accurate when distributing possession in the final third as he has made 87.4% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).

Isco is under contract at Real Betis until the end of this campaign. Thus, it makes sense for Barca to try and bring him on board when he becomes a free agent next summer.

Is Isco The Right Fit For Barcelona Boss Xavi?

Isco can shoot the ball with power and precision from long range and has got the vision to orchestrate a few meaningful openings for his teammates in the final third. He is a good dribbler with the ball as well but needs to find a way to improve his productivity up top.

The Spaniard is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also function as a box-to-box midfielder or as a left-winger if asked to do so by his manager. Hence, he would be a good fit for Barcelona boss Xavi’s needs next summer.

At the very least, Isco would increase competition for places within Barca‘s match-day squad. He would no doubt help the Catalan club challenge across all fronts in the coming years.

At 31, Isco might still have a few good years left in him and would be a good, short-term signing for Barcelona to consider on a free transfer at the end of this campaign.
