In a recent report, Sport mentioned that Barcelona are eyeing a move for Monaco full-back Vanderson next year. It has been claimed that the Catalan giants have set their sights on the Brazilian talent ahead of a potential move in the summer of 2024.

Vanderson’s Impressive Season In French Football

The 21-year-old has caught the eye with his performances on the right side of the French club’s defence. Vanderson has found the back of the net once and earned five assists in 39 matches for Monaco this season on all fronts.

The Brazilian sensation has been a positive influence at both ends of the pitch based on his average of 2.7 tackles, 1.5 interceptions, 1.0 clearances, 0.8 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball from the right flank after completing 77.9% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the French club is set to expire in the summer of 2027. Thus, it won’t be easy for Barcelona to lure Vanderson to the Nou Camp next year.

Is Vanderson A Good Choice For Barcelona Boss Xavi?

Vanderson is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when needed and is a decent dribbler with the ball. The Brazilian whizkid can create a few inviting chances for his teammates in the opponent’s half and can strike the ball well from long range.

We can expect Vanderson to challenge for a regular starting spot at the Nou Camp if Barcelona can devise a way to get him on board next year.

Barca can definitely benefit from recruiting a new right-back so that they can compete for even more major trophies in the future. Vanderson fits the bill perfectly as he has the potential to become a world-class player in his position someday.

At 21, Vanderson has still got a lot of room to grow as a footballer. Xavi is a good man-manager and could oversee his development and unlock the best out of the youngster at the Catalan club.
