Barcelona are already aware of what it would cost to sign Rafael Leao – Report | OneFootball

This summer is already proving that FC Barcelona will have to devote a lot of time to transfers. After all, their financial situation does not exactly afford them the luxury of getting whoever they want. Instead, Barcelona are quite restricted in terms of the guarantees they can provide.

The most recent operation concerning Nico Williams, for instance, proved to be a very problematic one for Barcelona to get through. Ultimately, it was reported that registration issues ended up being the defining reason behind his continuity with Athletic Club.

Still, Barcelona are not simply going to back off from their pursuit of a new left-winger this summer. It is a major objective of theirs to reinforce that position heading into next season, and they want to bring in a player with real quality.

Liverpool winger Luis Diaz has been linked to the club, and he even recently provided an update on his future. Similarly, the case of English forward Marcus Rashford is still quite open as well, especially considering his falling out with Manchester United.

Barcelona know what Rafael Leao would cost

However, another player that Barcelona are well-informed about is Rafael Leao. According to SPORT, the Catalan giants are aware of his current situation and they also know just how much it would cost to sign the AC Milan star this summer.

As per the report, the actual cost of the transfer to bring the Portuguese winger over to Barcelona would be around the €70 million mark. Alongside that, Milan would also want some add-ons on top of that fee, and that could possibly make this an expensive operation.

In fact, it will likely be more expensive than the Nico Williams operation and could also overshadow the Luis Diaz operation in that regard as well. However, if there is one thing that remains in favor of Leao, it is that he is stylistically the most similar profile to that of Nico Williams.

Jorge Mendes could play a part

Moreover, Jorge Mendes has close ties with Leao and is a significant influence in terms of his career. Even though he is not explicitly his agent, he has a level of influence over his decisions that could help Barcelona out in that regard if they decide to pursue his signature.

As per the same report, Leao is seen as an option that is now back on the table due to the presence of Jorge Mendes. Still, he is not the priority target and others are still ahead of him, but he is an option to consider for Barcelona if the other operations do not come to fruition.

For now, Leao remains at AC Milan but he would reportedly be willing to sign for Barcelona if the opportunity presents itself. At the moment, even though he has a release clause worth €150 million, Milan may just let him go for an amount near €70 million alongside certain add-ons, making him a player to keep an eye on.
