Barcelona and Juventus have expressed an interest in signing Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on loan, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reports.

The Gabon international has not played for the Gunners since early December when he was dropped from the matchday squad for a disciplinary breach.

He has since been stripped of the captaincy and has not travelled with the first-team squad for their warm-weather training camp in Dubai in the ongoing winter break.

It is now reported that Juventus and Barcelona are both in the running to sign the 32-year-old, but the Gunners are yet to green-light his potential exit this month.

The move may also have implications on Alvaro Morata’s future. He could leave for the Blaugrana this month if the Bianconeri land Aubameyang.

However, they are likely to keep him if the Gunners star switches to Camp Nou. The former could be the case amid the Blaugrana’s financial issues.

The Gunners were recently open to loaning Aubameyang to Saudi club Al Nasr with an obligation to buy, but he is keen to continue playing at the top level in Europe.

The north London club are likely to demand Juventus or Barcelona to cover his £350,000-per-week wages.

Meanwhile, the departure of Aubameyang could pave the way for the Gunners to pursue a new centre-forward before the transfer window closes at 11.00 pm on Monday.

Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are currently the specialist strikers other than Aubameyang, but both have failed to find the back of the net regularly in the league.

Their top-four prospects for the Premier League campaign could be influenced by whether they can sign a new striker or not before the transfer deadline next week.
