FC Barcelona, with millions of fans across the globe, continue their push to be a universal club – an objective reflected in various initiatives undertaken by the club, including the creation of their now well-established academies in many countries.
Now, according to reports relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have agreed to play a friendly match in Libya and also open an academy in the country in the future.
The Libyan Minister of Investment, Ali Al Saidi, and the member of the Libyan House of Representatives, Al Salihin Abdul Nabi, reached an agreement with Barça president Joan Laporta to open a football academy in Libya.

As part of the same agreement, a friendly match is also expected to be played in Benghazi, the second most populous city in Libya after Tripoli.
It is unclear as to when the friendly match will be held, but there is an agreement for the Catalans to take the team to the African nation for a game.
The meeting with Libya’s Minister of Investment strengthens the ‘Barça Experience’ project in the country.
It marks the third key element of a broader strategy through which the La Liga champions seek to build and maintain a strong relationship with the North African region.
