Barcelona have taken a big step forward in their pursuit of Nico Williams, as an update from Fabrizio Romano confirms that the Catalan giants have reached a full agreement with the Spanish winger on personal terms.
The deal is set to run until June 2031, with the player expected to earn between €7–8 million net per season.
This major breakthrough puts Barça in a strong position as they now turn their attention to finalising a deal with Athletic Club.
While there is still work to be done on the financial side with the La Liga outfit, the most difficult part, convincing the player, is already done.
Nico’s willingness to join Barcelona has played a key role in speeding up negotiations. His agent has been in regular contact with the Barça board since last Friday, making it clear that the player wants to wear the Blaugrana shirt next season.

What has impressed Barcelona the most is Nico’s attitude. Not only has he accepted the salary proposal that Barça gave him last summer, but he is even willing to lower it to help the club register him under La Liga’s financial regulations.
That is a massive gesture, especially considering that Athletic are offering him a new contract worth around €10 million net per season, far more than what he will receive in Barcelona.
Nico is so determined to join Barça that he has told his camp he is willing to ask Athletic to sit down and negotiate a transfer, instead of forcing Barça to pay his release clause in full.
He iss even open to making public statements if needed to push the move forward. However, Athletic Club remain firm.
They are known for refusing to negotiate and only letting players go if their release clauses are paid. Despite this, fresh talks have taken place in recent hours, and Barça are actively exploring the option of triggering the clause.
