FC Barcelona began their final training session before the trip to Madrid tomorrow as they take on Rayo Vallecano on Matchday 3 of the 2025/26 La Liga.

The Blaugrana have won two in two so far and will be eager to complete a hat-trick before their first home game of the season next month, after the international break.

Notable absences in training

As Hansi Flick & co. kicked off their final preparations for the trip to Estadio de Vallecas, there were some notable absences from the training session.

Indeed, according to SPORT, the biggest absentee was midfielder Gavi, who has now been ruled out of the Rayo Vallecano clash due to the knee injury he suffered in training on Friday.

Although the full extent of his injury is yet to be known, the midfielder will not travel with the rest of the squad and is expected to sit out of Spain’s matches next month.

Along with Gavi, though, there were a few more players not seen in training today. Teenage defender Hector Fort was not working with the squad, while La Masia gems Toni Fernandez and Guille Fernandez were also missing.

Fort’s absence from training has got to do with the situation surrounding his future, as he waits for his loan move, potentially to Mallorca, to be resolved soon.

Meanwhile, Toni and Guille did not train with the first team today as they are expected to play for Barça Atletic in their friendly against L’Hospitalet on Sunday.

Fermin Lopez trains normally

Fermin Lopez, for his part, trained normally with the rest of the group amid uncertainties over his future. In fact, he came out onto the pitch joking with Joan Garcia and appeared relaxed.

After a week with a lot of noise surrounding his future, the player should announce his final decision sooner rather than later.

The youth players Dro and Jofre Torrents also took part in the session and, barring surprises, will be included in Hansi Flick’s squad list.
