Baptiste Santamaria (30) and Tanguy Ndombélé (28) could both leave OGC Nice this summer. The former is on loan from Stade Rennais, whilst the latter joined Le Gym in the summer but has spent the second half of the season sidelined with a hernia issue.
Santamaria joined Nice in January on a loan deal with the option to make the deal permanent, however, despite some good performances, particularly at the start of the loan spell, his future may not lie at the Allianz Riviera. “We already have 34 players under contract and quite a few midfielders […] we can’t end up with nine midfielders,” Franck Haise told L’Équipe when asked about the possibility of triggering the purchase clause included in Santamaria’s loan.
There is also doubt surrounding Ndombélé’s future. The Frenchman’s continued injury issues were a source of frustration for Nice towards the end of the campaign. “If I could be sure that he could be 100% operational for a season, I wouldn’t ask the question, but that isn’t the case,” said Haise, who added that he didn’t know whether Ndombélé would still be at the club come the start of next season. He has just one year remaining on his deal.
Nice-Matin understands that Santamaria, like fellow loanee Youssoufa Moukoko, will leave Nice. Ndombélé’s situation is currently more uncertain.
