After Karlsruhe vetoed the move in January as they failed to find a replacement, it looks as though Augsburg will finally get their desired player for the No. 6 role. Final details are still left to be clarified, but it’s expected to only be a case of formalities with this deal going through.

Breithaupt has played 63 games across all competitions but hasn’t played since February due to a an ankle fracture picked up during training which required surgery. Per the report, his recovery is going to plan.

In Enrico Maaßen’s first coaching role at a Bundesliga club, Augsburg have somewhat impressed after a difficult run of form. They’ve lost just one of their last eight home games and beat Borussia Monchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich at the WWK Arena this season.
