Aubameyang to become an Arsenal legend 'like Henry and Bergkamp' | OneFootball

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang insists he wants to follow in the footsteps of Arsenal legends Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp.

Aubameyang – a club record €60m signing from Borussia Dortmund – has impressed in north London, scoring 18 goals in 23 Premier League starts.

However, the 29-year-old is refusing to rest on his laurels and is aiming to emulate some iconic players in Arsenal’s history.

“It’s good when you are coming to work and you have great examples,” he told Sky Sports. “Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp – I’ll try try to follow them.

“We try to follow in their footsteps. It’s not easy. It’s not pressure, but you have to be good so you work for that.

“I prefer to play as a striker, but I’m a guy who wants to work for the team as well. If they need me on the wing, I will play on the wing, of course. But I prefer to play up front.”

Arsenal are facing an extremely tough week, locking horns with Tottenham in the derby on Sunday before travelling to Manchester United on December 5.
