Atlético Madrid to unveil latest signing on Wednesday | OneFootball

La Liga giants Atlético Madrid are expected to unveil the latest addition to the club’s midfield ranks as early as tomorrow.

That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Conor Gallagher as the player in question.

The name of England international Gallagher has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital for a number of weeks now.

This comes after word was forthcoming that the 24-year-old was the subject of in-depth negotiations between the respective boards at Chelsea, and the aforementioned Atlético.

After Gallagher went as far as to travel to Madrid to undergo his medical tests with the latter, the transfer was suddenly thrown up in the air, upon Chelsea pulling the plug on their move for Samu Omorodion.

The Blues, though, have since shifted attentions towards another Atléti star in João Félix, with the Portuguese’s impending Stamford Bridge return having cleared the way for Gallagher to head in the opposite direction.

In turn, according to Fabrizio Romano:

‘Conor Gallagher will be presented as [a] new Atlético player on Wednesday at the Metropolitano stadium.’

The former Crystal Palace man has already put pen to paper on terms with Diego Simeone’s troops all the way through the summer of 2029.
