Atletico Madrid to make Felipe Monteiro their first summer signing | OneFootball

Porto centre-back Felipe Monteiro is set to become Atlético Madrid’s first signing of the summer, with an official announcement to come after the Portuguese side’s last game of the season.

Atleti have been in the market for a new central defender after it was confirmed that Lucas Hernandez would leave at the end of the campaign to join Bayern Munich.

Legendary captain Diego Godin is also  looking to leave the Spanish capital with Inter Milan reportedly his next destination.

As such, Diego Simeone’s side have been scouring Europe for a defender that can fill their boots and have decided on Porto’s 29-year-old Brazilian.

Felipe has been at Porto for three years now and has impressed to such an extent that he’s almost certain to be included in Brazil’s squad for the Copa America this summer.

Marca claim that Atleti have agreed to pay his €50m release with just personal details to iron out.
