Atlético Madrid have confirmed the signing of Mexico international Héctor Herrera.
The 29-year-old will put pen to paper on a three-year deal on Thursday and joins the club on a free transfer following the expiration of his Porto contract.
The news comes after the Rojiblancos announced earlier on Wednesday that Rodri is set to sign for Manchester City after the Premier League champions paid the Spain midfielder’s €70m release clause in full.
Herrera began his career at Pachuca back in his homeland before joining Porto in 2013.
He spent six years at the Estádio do Dragão and helped the club to the 2018 Liga NOS title. He has so far been capped 70 times by the Mexican national team.
