Atletico Madrid players Antoine Griezmann and Renan Lodi hailed their performance for victory at Manchester United.

Atletico reach the Champions League quarterfinals 2-1 on aggregate thanks to Renan Lodi's winner at Old Trafford.

Griezmann said, "I've played well over the last few weeks and I wanted to show what I could do and help the side, both attacking and defensively today; everyone on the pitch did that. This is the way forward.

"The most important thing is how you feel. We wanted to show tonight that we're a really tough side to play against, we wanted to be at this level more consistently and go forward. It's brilliant to reach the last eight."

Lodi also said: "It's a special night. I'm happy with what I'm doing – it's a tough role. I'm working at it, learning and working with Carrasco. I'm trying to improve myself and the team as a whole and I'm happy with the way the season is going.

"I wasn't playing a few months ago, but everything has changed now and I'm very happy with that. These results are good for me, but also for the group, because everyone has worked so hard to get to this stage."
